Cappadocia (Kapadokya) is a region in Central Anatolia, is located in a triangle-Kayseri-Konya-Konya Nigde, famous for its unusual terrain. The landscape of this place is often called moon-like.

Cappadocia looks really amazing - a volcanic tuff formed about 60 million years ago formations of different shapes - there are cones, towers, ravines and caves. All visitors are impressed with the rock houses carved in stone, underground churches, and even whole cities. In close proximity are also the famous volcanoes Hasan and Erciyes.

When going with kids you have to remember that in the summer months (July and August) in Turkey, the temperature is very high. The expedition so it can be very tiring - especially for young children.

The biggest tourist attractions:

  • Goreme National Park - about 350 churches and Byzantine chapels, carved in the rock. The park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List;
  • Kaymakli and Derinkuyu - underground city, with many floors, used as a shelter already 3000 years ago;
  • Uçhisar rock city
  • Tuff valleys of Cappadocia: Love Valley and the Valley of the Imagination, Soganli.

Good to know:

  • Cappadocia is not marked on maps - you should look between the cities of Aksaray (west), Kayseri (east), Hacibektas (north) and Nigde (south).
  • a nice attraction for tourists is a balloon ride over Cappadocia;
  • the name comes from the Persian language and means "land of beautiful horses".

    Kapadocja to chyba zawsze będzie moje ulubione miejsce.
