The Opole Zoo was founded in the 30s of the twentieth century. It is located on the Bolko island. The Zoo in Opole specializes in breeding Callitrichidae, lemurs and ungulates.

Interesting objects, very popular among children, are the giraffe house, the gorilla enclosure, amphibians pavilion with species that are most at risk of extinction and a pool hosting the only Californian sea lions in Poland. At the zoo there are also playgrounds for children, a petting zoo, where kids can feed the animals themselves with special pellets purchased from vending machines.

At specified hours demonstrations in feeding animals such as gorillas, pelicans, lemurs, otters and sea lions are being held.
