San Alfonso del Mar is a famous Chilean resort, separated from the Pacific Ocean by a wide, sandy beach, promenade and a swimming pool. And exactly this pool named Crystal Lagoon gave fame to this place. It has been nominated as a Guinness record for being the largest and deepest outdoor pool in the world. Its length is 1013 meters and the maximal depth is 35 meters. The water needed to fill such a huge swimming pool is taken directly from the ocean, and thanks to modern technology the water has a constant temperature of about 26°C.
The pool is so big that you can snorkel, windsurf or kayak and even sail on it.
Unfortunately, the use of the swimming pool is only possible for guests renting apartments here, which is a shame because it is a very interesting and unique tourist attraction.
