The Zoo in Chorzów is the most recognizable zoo in Silesia. It is one of the biggest in Poland if you consider the surface (about 47 ha). It is located in the Silesian Park, therefore if you don't want just to watch the animals you can spend some time at the nearby amusement park or skate or ride a bike in the park with the kids.

At the zoo , you can see a considerable amount of animal species - over 350 species, the greatest diversity represents the kingdom of fish, then birds and mammals. In addition to standard pavilions with monkeys, aquariums, wildlife or big aviaries for birds (look at the white-tailed eagle if you get the chance) you will also find additional attractions such as the dinosaur valley and the Mini Zoo, where you can confidently stroke the more domesticated animals.

Maybe we were here at the wrong time, but while walking around the garden we have not seen too many animals - they were hidden in their pavilions or in shelters on their extensive free range pens. All in all it's good for the animals, a little bit worse for the visitors.
You can see however some recent investments in the zoo - new pavilions (i.e. the Exotarium), ramps for disabled people and the nature trail.

The visit the entire area of the zoo takes about three hours, obviously depending on how much time we spend at the particular pens.

We've been especially impressed in Chorzów by the small patas, delightfully chewing a rubber band (isn't that dangerous?) and by the saltwater aquarium, where you will find perhaps all the marine animals from the famous movie "Finding Nemo" (we couldn't only spot the starfish).
