Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Sochaczew is an essential place for fans of the railways.
The extensive area hosts different steam engines, locomotives and wagons. In total, more than 200 units, of which more than 140 can be admired in the open-air museum.
Into certain objects you can even do a look inside, but stepping inside - for safety reasons - is strictly prohibited. Most children are therefore not fully satisfied.
In addition to the open-air museum there are also several exhibition halls, which contain items documenting the history of narrow gauge railways in Poland. But the biggest attraction, available only during the summer season (May to October) is the possibility to ride a special RETRO train led by a historic steam engine or motor locomotive. The train goes from the Museum (Sochaczew Muzeum station) at 10:00. Ticket prices can be found below in the additional information section (below the map).
You can go on the journey every Saturday and in July and August, every Wednesday. In addition, on other days of the week the trains are run on request. The composition of the 50-year-old wagons is pulled by a Px29 steam engine or by a combustion locomotive. The whole route has a total of about 18 km, it passes through Chodaków, Brochów, Tułowice to the border of the Kampinos National Park .
For guests of the Retro Season there are picnics held in the primeval forest settlement, with many attractions.
The facility is a division of the Railway Museum in Warsaw and is located in the former rail station of the Sochaczew Commuter Railway.
