Hever Castle is located approximately 50 kilometers southeast of London.
Construction of the castle proceeded in stages. The oldest part - external massive defensive wall and gate were built about 1270, the other parts - including housing were added to the existing walls in the middle of the fifteenth century
It is now a very popular attraction for both younger and older tourists. On the three floors of the castle we can see an exhibition of antique furniture, fabrics, old instruments of torture, antique swords and armor, as well as Tudor family pictures and prayer books of Anne Boleyn - the second wife of King Henry VIII Tudor, crowned in 1533, the Queen of England and Ireland.
Castle is surrounded by beautiful Italian gardens and green maze planted in 1904, which is especially loved by children. At the end of the garden there is a lake, which is a great place for a picnic.
In the summer numerous events are organized, such as tournaments, archery demonstrations and patchwork exhibition in September .
