Technik Museum Speyer

Technical Museum in Speyer (Speyer Technik Museum in German) is one of the newest museums of its kind in Germany, but also one of Europe's largest with a department dedicated to space flight.

The exhibition presents more than 2 thousand exhibits, and is divided into two parts. One, with an area of ​​over 25 thousand m2 is located in a roofed hall, the other with an area of ​​150 thousand m2 is in the open air area.

The most interesting exhibits include: Original shuttle and capsule BURAN Sojus, the Soviet test space shuttle - OK-GLI, the German submarine U-9, old cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette, boats and motorcycles, including the Suzuki GSX-R 750 WR , numerous planes and helicopters, including: McDonnell F-101 Voodoo, the Royal Canadian Air Force North American F-86 Sabre and engines and historic rail vehicles.

Noteworthy is also the exhibition "Apollo and Beyond," devoted to the conquest of space. You'll see here space suits, space food and toilets, which operate in weightless conditions.

Supplementary to museum exhibition is the only IMAX DOME in Germany, where movies are not displayed on a typical flat screen , but on a huge dome with a diameter of 24 m and an area of ​​nearly 1000 m2.
